Am I Losing It? Thoughts on The Help – pt. 2

I embarked upon a mad dash to re-orientate my perspective and get my attitude in check. Let me re-examine my initial reading of the book, carefully consider the negative and positive reviews, and maybe I ought to think twice about my lingering excitement about seeing the film. Am I Losing It? Thoughts on The Help – pt. 1

Over the past couple of weeks, I have read numerous articles and blogs regarding Kathryn Stockett’s, The Help. I read the book at the urging of my 6th grade Teacher who was reading it as part of her book club. While the first couple of chapters did not really grab me, I soon found myself easily navigating my way through what I considered a pretty good book. I think I may have even suggested it on my FB page. After finishing the book, I chatted with my teacher, now a dear friend, about it over lunch. But, other than that, I found that most of the people I knew at the time had not – and did not intend to – read the book. Then I moved on to other things in my very busy life… Continue reading
